Ti is pleased to announce the successful inspection and validation of its LNG fuel tank insulation systems during the recent warranty/guarantee dockings of CMA CGM TENERIFE, CMA CGM SCANDOLA and CMA CGM IGUACU.

Delivered in 2020 from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI), Korea, the vessels form part of a pioneering series of large dual-fuel container vessels and represented an important milestone in the adoption of LNG as a marine fuel. Ti supplied the cryogenic insulation systems for the vessels’ Type B LNG fuel tanks, building on the company’s pioneering expertise in insulation technology for large-scale cryogenic containment systems. The recent dockings provided an important opportunity to assess the insulation systems after years of operational service. The findings strongly validate both the original engineering solution and the quality of its installation.

Inspections confirmed:

- No deterioration of the insulation system
- No cold spots identified
- Excellent thermal insulation performance
- No insulation-related boil-off issues
- Continued integrity of the insulation installation after years of vessel operation These results provide valuable real-world confirmation of the durability and performance of TI’s cryogenic insulation technology under demanding commercial operating conditions.

“The condition of these insulation systems after years in service is something the entire TI team can be proud of. These vessels were pioneering projects for the industry, and the results observed during their warranty dockings provide compelling evidence of the quality, robustness and long-term thermal performance of our solution.
“For our customers, this is about more than the performance of an insulation system at delivery. It is about confidence that the solution will continue to perform throughout the vessel’s operating life, supported by an experienced organisation capable of providing inspection, maintenance and service wherever our customers operate.” The successful inspections reinforce Ti’s position as a pioneer in the development and application of cryogenic insulation systems for Type B LNG fuel tanks. They also demonstrate an increasingly important part of Ti’s value proposition: combining a robust insulation solution with the technical expertise and service capability required to support vessels throughout their operational lifecycle.

For shipowners, shipyards and LNG containment system designers, long-term insulation performance is critical. Maintaining the thermal efficiency and integrity of the system helps protect tank performance while minimising heat ingress and managing LNG boil-off throughout operation. The results from CMA CGM TENERIFE, CMA CGM SCANDOLA and CMA CGM IGUACU therefore represent more than successful docking inspections. They provide operational evidence that TI’s approach to engineering, material selection, installation quality and lifecycle support delivers lasting performance. From pioneering the original insulation solution to returning years later to inspect and support the vessels in service, Ti continues to demonstrate its commitment to the complete lifecycle of cryogenic insulation systems. Proven at delivery. Validated in service. Supported throughout the vessel lifecycle.
